PART TWO
Middle Ninfa farm. 'Ninfa' is Welsh for 'charcoal,' so the farm is the 'cottage of the charcoal burner.'
The house is 300 years old and lies on the old parish road from Blorenge to Blaenavon.
The farm was at the end of a thigh-busting climb up the valley.
Happily going down wasn't too bad.
Heading north along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal towards Llanfoist.
The Canal runs along the side of the valley and is surprisingly high up.
Barges on the canal.
Looking along the trackbed of the disused Merthyr, Tredegar and Abergavenny railway (built 1862) that crosses the canal near Govilon.
Looking down on the canal.
Old stone aqueduct.
Bridgend Inn, Church Lane in the village of Govilon, near Abergavenny.
Village Hall, Govilon. The thermometer shows that they're just £5,000 short of the £30,000 needed for a the 'New Village Hall Fund.'
Outside the Lion Inn, Govilon.
Back on the canal.
Govilon wharf.
Heading home.
Old Brecon Beacons sign by the canal.
Some well deserved Pimms.
Giving it some coracle action.
A view of the Bunkhouse.
The farm cat.
An evening of World Cup football and beer to round off an ace weekend!
