View of the distinctive pub building facing Brixton Road.
Looking up. Note the crown and anchor motif on the second floor and the flamboyant painted stone urns on the roof.
After the original squatted venue was evicted, the Crown stepped in at the last minute and hosted the @coustic festival 09, featuring Babar Luck, Captain Hotknives, Jay Terrestrial & Chezney, Johnny One Lung, Sarah Bear, Ed Ache and the Granarchist.
Update April 2012: the pub has enjoyed an extensive refit and has reopened as a proper real ale bar. It's well worth a visit.
See feature: The Crown and Anchor, 246 Brixton Road, SW9 – a new real ale bar for Brixton.
