Lost Brixton: Lost cinemas of Brixton
Celebrating lost landmarks of Brixton

Between 1910 and 1915, at least nine cinemas opened in the Brixton area, many of them in railway arches and cramped premises.

As safety legislation was tightened up, many of these 'flea-pits' closed, with the introduction of sound in the 1920s leading to the construction of larger and more impressive cinemas.

Here we document some long-lost old Brixton cinemas.
