Now in its 10th year, the Croydon Free Festival has been described as a 'one of the biggest bargains in the UK festival festival,' and we certainly couldn't complain about the free entertainment on offer!
Here's a few photos from the Saturday event.
Arriving at the festival site was a little daunting, with bag searches and a metal detector arch.
Wall of Death.
Airborne acrobat.
Local dancers.
On the waltzer.
Dodgems. The woman at the back was a hoot to watch as she aggressively nailed other riders - she hit one dodgem so hard a small child riding with her Mum burst into tears!
Prizes.
Very young band on the Green Dragon stage, compete with large advertising for pies!
Local girl Rox on stage.
The Whale – The Mariner's Museum.
Man stage.
Dancing to The Damned.
The Damned onstage. They were a load of fun.
Puke
Lips in the house!
Damned take the applause at the end of their set.
Funfair.
Arty shot that came out surprisingly well, taken on my HTC Desire phone and run through the Vignette app.
Martha Reeves was horribly disappointing. The sound was awful, there was no band (only a vocal-assisted backing track) and there was very little to remind you of her great musical legacy.
Peyoti for President mixing up Spanish/flamenco music with gypsy punk/latin and roots.
Waiting for the tram home!
