OFFLINE at the Dogstar: Special Shanners Show
Thursday, 25th June 2009
When we heard that a venue had cancelled the farewell gig for our friends The Shanners, we quickly assembled the Offline Pronto Gig Relocation crew, and found them a new home for their last ever show. And it was ruddy great too!

The last minute booking, meant that we had to put the show on in the downstairs room instead of the ballroom upstairs, but after we'd brought our small-but-mighty PA along, it sounded great.

Rumours were circulating around of Michael Jackson's death, but we waited until we saw the story confirmed on the news wires before putting on a few Jacko songs in tribute to the King of Pop.

LIVE BANDS:
THE SHANNERS
Forged in a Brixton basement and fuelled by Buckfast, exhilarating garage-punkers The Shanners have been kicking up a storm with their crafty, edgy songs blending punk and poetry.
"Melodic growls and jagged rolling riffs signify this swaggering, savage 5 piece. A chunky, spiky sound underpinned by subtle but thumping rhythms" Podshow
FRANCO'S CHARIOT
Franco's Chariot is a four-man voodoo priesthood dedicated to Rock and Roll music.
They firmly believe that the purpose of music is to connect people, to unchain the urge to beat out a rhythm, and to make people sweat and dance round a fifty-foot totem pole in a Hoedown meltdown. If you want to finger-pick bedroom songs to a silent room of fawning devotees crying into their beer, you're at the wrong place, chico.
YEAH SPARROW
All hail this folk acoustic troubadour rapidly on the rise and pedalling his self-styled folk-dick-whinge-jazz. The man sings like he has his balls in a vice, he plays guitar like he's running for a train. Look out!
