The Alternative Vegetable Sculpture Competition
(21st July 2007, photos by urban75)
Building on the success of last year's debut, the unofficial Alternative Vegetable Animal Competition once again proved a hit.
The rules were simple, with two categories open to all:
1. Famous people
2. Famous buildings
Only vegetables, fruit and cocktails sticks are allowed, with the judging taking place at 4.00pm Saturday on the Village Green
The prize for the winners was a a (cheap) bottle of champagne.
Here's the photos:
The first prize clinching Ike and Tina Turner.
Millennium Wheel.
Millennium Dome.
We've no idea what - or who - this curious blob of cauliflower is supposed to represent.
We like the Sydney Opera House cabbage sculpture a lot.
A potato Stonehenge, which secured first prize.
(From left to right), a woman of some description, Mr T and another Millennium Dome.
A winner celebrates.
Another winner!
Some repairs to the London Eye.
Formula One podium style celebrations!
Another look at some of the entries.
We were mightily impressed with the rhubarb Eiffel Tower, but once the judges spotted that two illegal elastic bands had bee used in its construction, it was cruelly disqualified.
