A night at the Working Men's Club
Triple act fun at the Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, Thurs Nov 2nd 2006
On a nippy autumnal night, I ventured east to check out the The Temporary Shelters, The Actionettes and The Mount Cherries at Legal Tender's club night.
Actionettes open up the night.
View from the bar.
It's hard to dislike a band with a line-up of Fluffy Pineapple, Bubbly Wig, Lucky Impact, Slutty Iceberg, Vintage Popcorn
and the Lala-bella's super dancers, and what the Mount Cherries lacked in musical ability was amply compensated by their bubbling enthusiasm.
It didn't seem to make difference if the bass was being played or not, but Sabrina's big grin and onstage bouncing brought on a smile, and I loved the shambolic dancing and onstage messing about.
This band were here for a good time - and al the way from France too!
Finale!
I liked the Temporary Shelters too. Fronted by the bloke from Icebreaker International, they're a none-more-80s synth-pop outfit with an intriguing line in lyrics.
Think Pet Shop Boys going for a beer with Soft Cell and Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and you should get the idea.
Looking towards the bar.
On the dance floor.
Yes!
Entrance foyer.
Discarded home-made Dr Who police box.
