After leaving the Plym Valley Way, we elected to take a scenic route, going through Hoo Meavy, Meavy and Dousland before picking up the B3212 into Princetown - a ride that was just about uphill for the entire journey!
Passing under the old railway line as we headed towards Hoo Meavy.
The pretty scene at Hoo Meavy.
Church on a steep hill, Hoo Meavy.
There were hills all the way. Lots of them.
The welcome sight of the Burrator pub at Dousland where we grabbed a much needed bite.
Upwards onto Dartmoor.
We were told that the ride would get easy once we reached the cattle grid, at the top of a steep climb.
That wasn't strictly true, but the views were fantastic.
Over the moors.
Empty roads and a tree-less panorama.
The views were spectacular, although we wouldn't fancy getting stuck up here in mid winter..
Looking back towards Dousland.
We stopped here for a quick snack, with the thought of beers in the pub keeping us going.
|Just one last hill...!
The Plume of Feathers bunkhouse in Princetown.
We'll have lots of these please, landlord.
