Central Station (G-MEX) This splendid railway station was on the line that connected Manchester to Liverpool, and once boasted 400 arrivals and departures per day. The last train departed from the station in May 1966 but the building's Grade II listed status ensured its survival. After serving as car park for many years, a £20 million restoration project saw the building reopening as an exhibition centre in 1986. The station is built on the site of the infamous Peterloo Massacre all photos©urban75 2002 |
