Midland Railway Hotel Situated opposite the old Central Station, this stunning Edwardian hotel was designed by the Midland Railway's architect Charles Trubshaw and opened in Sept, 1903. No expense was spared in this £1.5 millionconstruction (an absolute fortune at the time!) with en-suite bathrooms, four restaurants, a marble court with a domed roof, Turkish Baths, a Post Office, Shops, a Paris milliners and a telephone in every room. all photos©urban75 2002 |
