Some snaps taken around New York's subway system.
28th Street.
Express subway train hurtling noisily by. These run on separate, dedicated tracks (how I wish London had these!).
Curved tracks, 14th Street.
Live country tunes on the platform. They were great.
The buskers battling to be heard over the rattle of the incoming subway train.
Waiting for the train.
2nd Avenue entrance, Lower East Side.
Train paused at Broadway.
Construction workers marks (or the worst graffiti ever!)..
Hippy on an oboe.
Brooklyn Bridge bound train at Bleeker Street.
Attractive mosaic sign at Bleeker.
51st Street scene.
Grand Central sign.
York subway, late at night.
Busking singer, 51st Street. The sign in his hand is advertising his CDs for $10.
OK, this isn't a subway, but an uptown bus.
Tiled 50th Street sign.
Snogging at 14th Street.
Subway logo, with ubiquitous American flag above.
More orange paint.
53rd Street, Lexington Ave exit.
Subway interior. We have it easy in London with our sprung, upholstered seats!
Ow! Michael Jackson impersonator busking.
I think you can work out where this one was taken!.
Watching the passengers, 42nd Street.
Pelham Bay Park station, Bronx, right at the northern end of the 6 subway.
End of the line, Pelham Bay Park station. This is the stop for City Island.
To finish off, here's a photo from my first visit in October 1986 when the a trip on the subway coule be a very scary experience!.
