View from the Brooklyn Bridge Looking west from the pedestrian bridge, you can see the 66-storey (290m) American International skyscraper rising above the skyline. Constructed in 1932, the tower was originally fitted with 'double-decker' elevators that served two floors at a time. These proved unpopular and were later removed. Annoyingly, there's a enclosed glass observatory at the top, but it's only open to corporate execs. [November 2002] please donate! copyright/licensing |
