Hotel Carter, 250 West 43rd Street This 22-storey, 250ft high hotel was known as the Hotel Dixie when it opened in 1930, later changing its name in honour of President Carter. If he gets to read the customer comments on Tripadvisor.com, he may well be asking them to take back the old name! "We were happy to get out without a social disease" (Oct 2003) "The Hotel Carter is a total dump. This is where welfare people vacation in NY"(Oct 03) "My biggest memory was of all of the roaches in the bathrooms that come up through the pipes at night" " I would rather sleep outside on the sidewalk than ever again lay down money for this not even nice enough to be called a crackhouse"(Jan 03) [October 1986] please donate! copyright/licensing |
