St. John's Kirk ('Kirk' is Scottish for 'church').
The oldest standing building in Perth, the church was first mentioned in 1126, with the original building completed by 1241.
The building has been extensively altered over the years, with a new choir built in 1440, and the leaded spire added in 1511.
The upper room of the tower was used as a woman's prison until 1823, a century later St John's was completely restored as a memorial to the Perthshire men who died in the First World War.
