Penzance Station Connected to London in 1853, this fine old station was once served by trains running on Brunel's broad gauge tracks, which promised higher speeds and more safety. Unfortunately, no other company adopted the gauge, leading to immense problems at transfer points, so the tracks were altered to standard gauge in 1892.
