A NIGHT OF COMEDY, CABARET AND LIVE MUSIC!
urban75 and Offline Club are proud to present a fantastic new evening of cutting edge comedy, cabaret, poetry and live music in the heart of downtown Brixton.
LIVE MUSIC:
The outrageously funny NICE PETER from Chicago, USA
Trained at the Improv Olympic in Chicago, Pete Shukoff brings his improv comedy experience to the Albert. On a Tuesday night! We must be crazy.
"Augmented by serious musicianship, Nice Peter's hysterical original acoustic pop songs are about love, sex, and pop
culture." Last FM
"Nice Peter's interactive, spontaneous live shows are the perfect blend of humour and tunage".
"exhilaratingly funny" HedMag
"Tenacious D on a Weezer kick" St Louis Times
"Sent us into immediate fits of laughter" Detroit Metrotimes
The beautifully moving SALT AND BLUE
Led by a female multi-instrumentalist/singer described as "one of the best hurdy-gurdy players in Britain" and backed by a gifted cello player, this fast-rising south London folk duo have drawn rave reviews from Offline regulars:
"Spine-tingling and hypnotic"
"A voice like an angel. Moving and brilliant - and this is from a long-term folkophobe. Beautiful."
"Salt and Blue made me go all funny and a bit tearful in parts...bizarre but beautiful."
"Absolutely blown away by Salt & Blue. I'd never heard a hurdy gurdy before, like some magical musical knitting machine or something, really moving, and combined with the cello, just so brilliant, so evocative of nature and earthy goodness...timeless."
CABARET WITH YOUR HOST VIC LAMBRUSCO
Co-founder of London's first independent 'performance poetry' club, the Hard Edge, BBC regular Vic slams down politically incorrect, in-yer-face verse, which seeks to entertain rather than obfuscate.
"Awesome.... funny as fuck" John Cooper-Clarke
"urban verse with a hard edge" Observer.
Plus:
JOE CAIRO putting the 'angst' in 'gangster.' The one and only original hard man of poetry performs a captivating set of poetry that gives a good kicking to the myths of poets writing about flowers
and clouds, sharp writing with an even sharper sense of humour.
RICHARD ALLEN
"John Cooper Clarke and Mark E Smith pissing down TS Eliot's letterbox."
SP HOWARTH
Brixton's finest angry young man ranting, raving and pouring his heart out with street urchin tales of heartache and discovery.
