Lambeth Country Show 2012 - part oneBrockwell Park, Herne Hill, London[Map location] 15th - 16th September 2012 For a while it looked like the 38th Lambeth Country Show wasn't going to take place after the council cancelled its traditional July slot, citing the Olympics as an excuse - [see the story here]. Happily, a vigorous local campaign saw the show reinstated, with the event moving to September - and once again, a fantastic free event was on offer. Here's some photos from the weekend, which was blessed with some lovely late summer sunshine. Pig racing in the main arena. I have to say, it sounded a bit more exciting than it actually was. Crowd gathered for the Fire Service demonstration on 'How not to put out a smoking chip pan fire.' | The intrepid fireman adds a glassful of water to the pan. Whoosh! Singed eyebrows a-plenty as the pan exploded into flame! What you're supposed to do is turn off the heat, cover the pan with a damp cloth and leave to cool for at least 30 minutes - or if you're in any doubt at all, GTFO and call 999 pronto. Bubble water balls. Blacksmiths demo. This is what it's all about! Huge queues greeted the Chucklehead Cider store, an essential part of every Country Show. On the main stage. The lively (and loud!) Dare2Dance crew. Inside the library tent. At the funfair. The Mystery Hotel. The Scouts jumble sale. Man with a parrot. And why not? Checking out the owls. The Mayor and Mayoress of Lambeth. Village Green. « Country Show home Country show 2012 - part 2 » |
