Tom Tower, Christ Church, Oxford The main entrance to Christ Church College is one of Oxford's most famous landmarks. The college was the birthplace of Alice in Wonderland, and its Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe. By law it contains one copy of every book, newspaper or leaflet ever published in the UK. A nearby pub, The Eagle and the Child, used to be the local hangout for Tolkien and CS Lewis when they were students. [Oct 2003] all photos©urban75 2003 |
