Housed in an Victorian building sat atop West Cliff in Whitby is the La Rosa Hotel.
Welcoming people of all types, 'except racists, bigots or puritans,' the Victorian themed hotel played host to Lewis Carroll during his visits to Whitby.
The hotel's ethos is described as, "buy second hand, make do and mend, more Wombles than eco warriors, more Steptoe than Selfridges," and we found it to be a lovely hotel with friendly staff.
We thoroughly recommend it.
Inside the tea room on the ground floor which is available for private hire. It normally opens at noon each day.
Old Joanna.
Billed as 'more boudoir than boutique,' the eight double rooms each have a distinctive style.
We stayed in the Crow's Nest suite at the top of the building - and they had a dressing up box. Huzzah!
