End of the lime, Pickering.
The route used to continue south of Pickering to join the Malton to Scarborough line at Rillington Junction, but no trace of this line remains.
Station detail.
We took a diesel (boo!) train to Levisham, ready to explore the nearby countryside.
Passing train at Levisham.
Looking down the line towards Pickering.
Towards Grosmont.
We walked up a hill and found ourselves a nice picnic spot, about a mile from the station.
Waiting for the train back to Whitby.
Looking across the moors.
Grosmont station.
The large level crossing gates and signal gantries at Grosmont.
Shunting operations at Grosmont. The shed lies at the other end of the tunnel.
Ready for the signal.
A few moments later our steam train pulled into the station and we headed back to Whitby ready for chips and beer.
