The vegetable/fruit animal creations are always a firm favourite with visitors, and we managed to grab pictures of both the official competition in the Flower tent and the 100% unofficial one by the Village Green.
This Royal wedding creation collected first prize and garnered high praise from the judges who added, "WELL DONE! A quirky interpretation."

The alternative animals competition 2011

'Apple of my eye.'
'Give peas a chance.'
'Piece of cake' and 'a rolling stone gathers no moss.'
'There but for the grapes of God go I...'
The judging begins. Any items found to falling short of the brief were swiftly ejected.
'To berry the hatchet.'
This was my favourite: 'A storm in a teacup.'
'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.'
The judge examines the entries.
