Then and Now: Market Row, off Electric Lane
Photographic comparisons of old and modern views of Lambeth
1966 Market Row shopping arcade runs from Electric Lane to Atlantic Road, with a short spur connecting to Coldharbour Lane. In this 1966 view you can see a bustling market, with a fine collection of tricycles and metal prams on display. Curiously, there are only women in this scene!

Jan 2004 The pram shop has disappeared to be replaced by a Godsquad store selling religious artefacts, while a line of bags can be seen in the top left of the photo. The arcade still offers a wide range of goods including several clothes shops, a butchers, fishmongers, deli, jewellers and cafe.
