Then and Now: Atlantic Rd, facing Coldharbour Lane
Photographic comparisons of old and modern views of Lambeth
c. 1921 Looking north up Atlantic Road towards Coldharbour Lane, there's a Hovis bread cart visible to the left, while various shop signs advertise Kavanagh's Boot Stores, cheap jewellery, hosiery and furniture.

June 2003 After many years of neglect and under-investment, the building work testifies to the advancing gentrification of the area. The building on the left with the large windows (formerly Howe's Confectionary Cash & Carry) has been converted into luxury flats and a style bar/restaurant, while the street now sports several fashion stores, a restaurant and an excellent café.
