Then and Now: Brixton Theatre
Photographic comparisons of old and modern views of Lambeth
c. 1925 A view of the Morleys department store staff getting ready for a coach outing in Bernays Grove, which runs along the back of the store.
Lined up along the street and ready to whisk the workers away for their day out is a collection of single and double decker buses.
Note the big sign for Lyons Swiss Rolls. The company is now owned by food uber-giant Premier Foods and still makes the Swiss Rolls!

Apr 2007 Morleys still lives on although I doubt they have too many staff days out anymore. Most of the scene seems surprisingly unchanged over the past eighty years or so.
